A brief History

Green Dragon Lane DoorThe Dragon Arts Centre was set up in 1999 and soon found a home in Green Dragon Lane (hence the name) off Wind Street in Swansea.

The Centre at High StreetThe centre moved to 217, High Street in 2002 where it stayed whilst searching for a permanent home.

 

 

 

54 Morfa rdThen Dragon Arts Centre moved to its permanent home; 54 Morfa Road, The Hafod in 2005.

Andrew Davies AM launching Dragon Arts and LearningUnder it's new name Dragon Arts and Learning Centre, it was officially opened by Andrew Davies AM, the Assembly's Minister for Economic Development and Transport on 27th May 2005.

The project has an excellent track record in re-engaging previously disaffected people in training and lifelong learning.

NIACE logoThis was recognised when members of the Centre achieved both an individual and group award in the acclaimed National Adult Learner Awards for Wales 2005, awarded by NIACE and ELWA. In addition two of our tutors received "Outstanding Adult Tutor Awards". Also one of our learners was "highly commneded" by NIACE in their INSPIRE awards in 2009.

New Spring Timetable

Dragon Arts and Learning Centre is part of Cyrenians Employment and Training Ltd. The project is funded to deliver training, support and employment to socially excluded adults in the Swansea Bay area. We have a proven track record in engaging and supporting people who may not have the opportunity of condence to access mainstream education and who may have been out of the labour market for a substantial period of time.

Our timetable operates in two different ways. Some classes are open access and exible. Members can attend any of these classes as they chose on a drop in basis.

Some classes require you to sign up in advance. These classes are all accredited through Agored Cymru and members can gain nationally recognised qualications in these classes. Please speak to the tutor of each workshop to find out when is the next available start date as you can sign up throughout the year.
