Personal Development
We now offer a Personal Development service at DAL, which is managed by our Personal Development Worker, Ryan Lloyd. This service will involve the provision of appropriate education and welfare based guidance, support and training that will assist service users in obtaining the accredited qualifications and skills they need to access further education and/or employment based opportunities.
The Personal Development worker will also help service users to identify the barriers they may have in relation to their individual personal development and set acheivable goals using personal centred plan processes. This will help service users to overcome barriers to lifelong learning and employment.
The service will be conducted as regular one to one advice and guidance sessions as part of the structured timetable and will also promote accredited courses available within the centre to support service users in accessing the courses that are most suitable for them. The personal development worker will monitor progress through monthly reviews and will help to signpost and support clients who wish to access training and employment opportunities outside the centre.
This is a confidential and impartial personal development service. With the service user's full knowledge, a confidential record of the service user’s enquiry will be kept, as well as any advice given and action taken.
The personal development worker may consult with other professional staff within the Dragon Arts Centre in order to ensure that the best possible support is offered. Other than with the express permission of the service user, nothing learned from the user will be disclosed to any person outside of the Dragon Arts Centre.
Only in exceptional circumstances, where there are good grounds for believing that the user will be a danger to him/herself or to others or have harm caused to him/her or where there is a legal duty, may confidentiality be broken.
The Personal Development Worker, however, recognises that information may need to be shared when staff and advisers discuss cases to monitor quality and for purposes of supervision. The personal development worker will ensure that any such discussions will take place in an appropriate environment and that anyone involved in the discussions is aware of and will follow this confidentiality policy.
All records relating to clients at Dragon Arts will be kept in a secure location. The only people with access to these files will be those for whom the files are directly relevant.
No client records will be taken off the premises. Written documents will be kept in a locked cabinet. All electronically stored information will be password protected.
