Dragon Arts and Learning

Workshops and Training

Dragon Arts offers a large range of varied learning opportunities. These are our current regular workshops

Throughout the year there are always one off projects in parntership with other bodies or outside tutors which can run for one day of for a few weeks. They are held at Dragon Arts or elsewhere in the community (or Internationally) as part of our Outreach Programme.

These sometimes take the form of taster sessions which sometimes can lead to a longer term or permanent addition to our timetable! Details of these will be posted here and on the news page.

New Teaching Structure for Dragon Arts and Learning Centre

In January Dragon Arts will be introducing a new structure to the timetable.

'Closed' afternoon classes

Students will be able to obtain OCN Qualifications by following 6 – 8 week long courses of formal, taught sessions in all the subject areas

The taught lessons will take place in the afternoon from 2.00 - 4.00, and will enable students to progress in their chosen subject.

These lessons will be ‘closed’ and students will be required to sign up for the courses and attend as many sessions as possible in order to gain the relevant OCN qualification.

Information about specific courses will be put on each subject's page on the web site as they become available.

Our intention in restructuring the timetable is for our students to have their individual learning needs catered for more fully, where they have indicated that they would gain more from a structured program.

It will also be beneficial for those students who wish to progress on to more formal studies at college or university, or to gain life skills for employment.

'Open' morning classes

‘Open’ sessions will still take place in the mornings (10.00 - 1.00) where students will have the opportunity for self directed learning, whilst still maintaining an informal learning environment for those who prefer less structure, with support from the Tutors.

Outreach

Dragon Arts and Learning Centre are also looking to roll out an Outreach service where we would be sending our Tutors to work in the community with groups that may have difficulty accessing our services on-site. In this way we will be able to deliver and accredit Arts projects and courses that are negotiated between the partner organisations and ourselves.

We are also frequently involved in exchange programmes both Nationally and Internationally.

Please contact Dragon Arts Centre if you would like more information about this service, or on any other aspects of the new timetable.
